At the moment I stood out on the deck of that magnificent ship as we pulled out of port, I felt my zest for life renewed and knew that I had to help people realize just how wonderful this experience can be. The things I love about cruising other than just being on the ocean is how friendly it is. Sure the first day, everyone is still very guarded in their “city” mode of thinking, but after 2 or 3 days on the ship, people are talking to each other at dinner, in the elevators etc. The attitudes completely change as the bonds and stresses  of “real life” of cell phones, traffic and problems at home melt away into relaxation and camaraderie. You will have the added freedom of no need to carry money (no purses, ladies!) and you can dine with whomever you want – when you want! There are so many great locations to explore and you only need to unpack once.

There are so many beautiful ships being introduced today with a huge assortment of amenities and activities on board. The cruise lines are vying for your attention and vacation dollars, creating a competition that is healthy and GREAT for the consumer. You can sail to over 2000 destinations worldwide traveling between 3-90 days. I have been to Alaska three times and consider it one of the most beautiful places on earth. Cruising has never been more affordable. There is a cruise and cabin for EVERY budget. It doesn’t matter if you can’t afford a balcony cabin. The staff treats each of the guests with the same courteous service and all of the amenities and activities are available to everyone. You are still going to have a fabulous time and meals and entertainment are all included in the cruise price.

Cruises are a great way to “jump start” a relationship or even begin one. Weddings, vow renewals and honeymoon packages are so easy to arrange and are so romantic. Family time is so valuable these days that cruise lines offer great youth programs up to age 18 and even babysitting for kids of all ages. Church groups, reunions, meetings and family events are perfect for cruising.

On the other side of the coin was the senior adult couple that made the mistake of booking a huge mega ship vacation during Spring break with hundreds of children on it.
